WORKINGTON boss Graham Drury has moved to assure fans that the Derwent Park track will be ready for the start of the season.
He said: ''We''ve been getting a lot of calls about the weather in Cumbria and the damage it has done. ''I can assure everyone that things are going well, we have had a lot of work done and things will fall into place nicely for press and practice.'' ROB Grant has agreed a new deal to stay with Stoke for the new season which starts next month. The 20-year-old is to quit his full-time job with a supermarket to concentrate on his racing. He said: ''I really believe I can make a go of speedway if I concentrate and work hard. A lot of my trouble last year was that I was too tired after working nights.'' DAVID Meldrum won the latest round of the X-treme ice racing series in America to move into second place in the overall standings. The Berwick stalwart beat defending champion Kenny Olsson into second place in front of nearly 3,000 fans at Moline in Illinois. Anthony Barlow was third and still leads the series standings with 49 points. Olsson has 45 and Meldrum is now third on 34.
