BMW Motorrad’s new generation, long distance tourer – the R1200 RT – will be officially launched by the BMW dealer network on Saturday 12 February 2005.

Following its international preview at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy last December, the R1200 RT went on to enjoy a hugely successful UK press launch at Tenerife last month. Shortly after that, visitors to the MCN London Bike Show were finally able to see BMW’s all-new boxer for themselves.

BMW Motorrad dealerships up and down the country are planning a celebratory launch to welcome the latest addition to the dynamic new twin-cylinder range with refreshments and showroom displays. In addition to seeing BMW’s latest touring machine in action on the big screen, riders will finally be able to examine the machine in the metal. Test ride bookings will also be available for customers who are keen to experience the new tourer.

As a replacement for the R1150 RT, the R1200 RT is approximately 20kg lighter and delivers 16 per cent more power. This gives a lighter, more agile and dynamic ride. The new R1200 RT also features a number of innovative extras including optional Electronic Suspension Adjustment (ESA), which was first seen on BMW’s K1200 S superbike.

Launched at all BMW Motorrad dealership this Saturday, the R1200 RT is priced from £10,710 OTR and will be available in a choice of three colours – Piemont Red Metallic, Granite Grey Metallic and Dark Granite Metallic.
