CABESTANY RIDES TO VICTORY AGAIN
06 February 2005 - Sherco
The Palau of Saint Jordi of Barcelona was the scene of the fifth round of the 2005 Indoor Trials Championship of the World, and is also where Albert Cabestany and Sherco won their fifth podium in a row.
Albert had an exceptional ride in spite of the fact that he was the first rider to ride the sections. Even with the disadvantage on having to ride first and not seeing another rider ride the section first, Albert set a torrid pace dropping only 8 marks in the first round. This placed him second behind Raga who only dropped 6 marks. The three riders to make the Final were Albert, Raga and Fajardo. Albert was the leader after the first section with a zero while Raga and Fajardo each had individual fiascos. A controversial ''five'' in the pyramid section cost Albert the victory and doomed him to second place in the final. With this result, Cabestany and Sherco have secured a solid second position in the Indoor World Championship. Albert has an eleven point advantage over the third place rider Doug Lampkin who failed to make the final today. Albert Cabestany: ''It is very hard to lose a race because of a controversial decision by the judges. In the first return they had already harmed me, and the same thing happened in the end. Sport speaking I am very satisfied with my riding, after ever ride I am happier with the bike and am confident in its potential. I must admit that Paxau surprises me every day, the work that he is doing to make the bike meet my requirements is incredible.''
