29 January 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

INJURED Somerset rider Matt Read will finally leave hospital next month – six months after his horrifying crash in France.

Read is making steady progress from the multiple injuries he sustained and doctors continue to be amazed by his recovery. He said: “I’ve been able to spend weekends at home since Christmas and now I have a date of February 25 to leave hospital on a permanent basis which is a big boost.”

IPSWICH have hit back at Coventry over the transfer of British Grand Prix star Scott Nicholls. Coventry have accused the Witches of demanding an excessive fee which could damage the sport. A Witches statement read: “Ipswich do not feel it is the the asking price for “arguably Britain’s top rider”, but the manner in which Coventry have conducted themselves in the transfer, that could be damaging the sport in this country.”
