ARENA-ESSEX have completed their line-up for the Elite League season by signing the experienced Polish rider Piotr Swist.

Swist, 36, will be racing in the UK for the first time after previously only featuring in Poland and Sweden. Arena promoter Ronnie Russell said: ''Piotr is a true racer and I know that he is looking forward to riding in this country''s top League for the first time.''

NEW Wolverhampton signing Krzysztof Pecyna will make his British debut in the Telford indoor ice international on Sunday February 13. Event co-promoter Graham Drury said: ''We will organise an autograph signing and photo opportunity for the Wolves fans at Telford. ''It will be a bonus for them because they were already coming to the event to support another Wolverhampton rider, David Howe.''

POOLE star Bjarne Pedersen has confirmed that his current deal with the Pirates will cover the next two Elite League campaigns. Pedersen said: ''I''ve been here three years and have signed a new two-year contract. I feel that Poole is my home when I am in England. ''I''ve been happy here for the last couple of years, and Poole are one of the top clubs in the country.''

GLENN Cunningham insists Somerset have what it takes to improve their Premier League position this year. The Rebels finished third from bottom in 2004 which was a major disappointment for the Oak Tree Arena outfit. Cunningham said: ''I''m not saying we''re going to win the league or anything like that but we should do a lot better and I''m determined to play my part.''
