SPEEDWAY NEWS - 22.1.05
22 January 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

PETERBOROUGH owner Mick Horton has purchased the promoting rights for reigning Conference League Champions Mildenhall.

Previous promoters Graham and Denise Drury have moved to Workington and Horton has bought the club from previous owner Tony Mole. Horton said: ''Mildenhall is a very well run club and the staff are second to none. We discussed the matter in depth and realised it would be a good venture.''

DANISH international Jesper B Jensen is keen to find a British club as his hopes of a return to Ipswich appear to be scuppered. Jensen will miss out following the signing of Piotr Protasiewicz by the Witches. He said: ''I have two bikes fully built and would be ready to go straight away. Perhaps I will find a team place after the season starts, I hope so.''

OXFORD are hoping to reveal their first signing for the new season at a fans'' forum next Thursday. Silver Machine boss Nigel Wagstaff is keen to get the ball rolling after finally agreeing a lease with his Cowley Stadium landlords for Thursday night racing. He said: ''All supporters are welcome to come along on Thursday and we will update them on the latest with the team, hopefully with our first signing.''
