17 January 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

ARENA Essex have added Welshman Phil Morris to their Elite League squad for the new season.

Morris will ride full-time for Premier League Newcastle but will be available to the Hammers as cover. Hammers boss Ronnie Russell said: “I’m sure he’ll do a good job for us if he is called upon. He has always been popular with our supporters when he has raced against us.”

WORLD champion Jason Crump has revealed how he played his part in tempting British youngster Simon Stead to Belle Vue. Stead has moved from Workington and Crump said: ''I told him I thought it was the right time for him to step up from the Premier League on a permanent basis. ''I think he''ll have a terrific season and I told him we''ll have some fun along the way.”
