SPEEDWAY NEWS - 13.1.05
13 January 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

DAVID Norris has agreed a new deal to stay with Eastbourne - and he will be joined by new signing Davey Watt.

Eagles boss Jon Cook said: ''David was always in our plans but we were talking terms on a different level as he was the Elite League''s rider of the year. ''Davey impressed me last season and we''re pleased to have him on board for this season.''

RICKY Ashworth has admitted he may have to leave Sheffield at the end of the year - to fulfill his dream of a full-time Elite League spot. Ashworth is doubling-up with reigning top flight champions Poole this year. He said: ''As much as I love Sheffield I''m going to do one more season doubling-up, see how it goes and then perhaps have to make a decision.''

TOMAS Topinka has been snapped up as Coventry''s No. 8 for the 2005 Elite League season. The 30-year-old King''s Lynn rider, who rode for Bees in 2002, will be available to stand-in for either of the two reserves. Bees co-boss Colin Pratt said: ''We couldn''t use Stuart Robson because of his Elite League average from last season, but we are delighted to have Tomas on board again.''
