BENNETTS SECURES ROLE AS BMF’S PREFERRED BROKER
05 January 2004 - Bennetts
Bennetts, one of the UK’s major players specialising in motorcycle insurance, has been selected by the British Motorcyclists Federation, the UK’s largest, most influential riders’ organisation, as their preferred broker, in a three year deal which will be effective from 1 January 2004.
Following a competitive pitch, which took place during November and against some of Bennetts’ major competitors in the motorcycle insurance industry, Bennetts will now gain benefit from being recommended by the BMF to its 140,000 strong membership database, in addition to the awareness it will receive from inclusion in the BMF’s bi-monthly magazine “Motorcycle Rider” and its official Riderspace Internet site (www.bmf.co.uk). Members of the BMF will be able to take advantage of exclusive, preferential insurance rates offered by Bennetts. Bennetts has been heavily involved in motorcycling for over 70 years through its presence at major exhibitions and through PR activity and sponsorship – including an eighteen-month personal sponsorship deal with newly crowned World Superbike Champion, Neil Hodgson. The BMF campaigns on bike related issues that affect motorcycling and are active in Europe through the FEMA (Federation of European Motorcyclists Association) and FIM (Federation of International Motorcyclists). They also lobby MPs, MEPS, Ministers, Commissioners and Committees, to ensure that motorcyclists views and concerns are heard and understood by Local Authorities, National Government and the European Union. Simon Wilkinson, the BMF’s Chief Executive, said: “Having worked with Bennetts on a number of campaigns over the past two or three years, we know they are committed to bikers and biking issues. As the BMF prides itself on doing things well and offering the best possible service to its members, this arrangement has a natural synergy that I know will work well for both organisations.” Matthew Gledhill, Director of Bennetts, said: “We are delighted that the BMF has chosen us as their preferred broker. Bennetts has worked hard this year to strengthen its position within the motorcycle industry and to continue to build awareness about motorcycling through its marketing and PR activities.” “This has included a re-brand, a sponsorship deal with Neil Hodgson, which has also seen Neil appear in our consumer advertising. Also, several high profile PR campaigns including our recent ‘Stop The Rough Ride’ campaign, supported by the BMF, which was launched at the NEC this year. We are very excited about the opportunities that our relationship will provide for ourselves, the BMF and for its members.”
