11 January 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association

AUSTRALIAN champion Leigh Adams celebrated victory at his home track Mildura - and then admitted it would have been better to face the world champion.

Swindon star Adams beat Jason Lyons and Steve Johnston in the final to secure overall victory. He said: ''It would have been nice to have Jason Crump as world champion in the line-up but I guess it wasn''t to be. I''m still delighted.''

PAUL Pickering has finally agreed a new deal to stay with Stoke for the new season which starts in March. Club boss Dave Tattum insists Pickering was always in his plans despite the delay in finalising terms for 2005. Tattum said: ''The lad has never let us down in all the years he has been with us and he is still a very capable speedway rider.''

KING''S Lynn boss Keith Chapman has hit back at claims from the Isle of Wight that they have a signed contract for Troy Batchelor. The Norfolk Arena club announced they had signed the talented young Australian only last week. Chapman said: ''I have already asked to see proof of this contract but it seems to have been misplaced? I know I wouldn''t misplace something so important!''
