BENNETTS CUTS THE COST OF BIKE INSURANCE IN 2004
23 January 2004 - Bennetts

Insurance companies have recently come under criticism for over-charging and hiking up the cost of premiums with no additional benefit to the customer.

However, Bennetts, one of the UK’s major players specialising in motorcycle insurance, has started the New Year with premiums lower than last year.

This is particularly good news for the biking industry, as the insurance industry came under strong criticism from The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) at the end of last year. MAG claimed that insurers were increasing the cost of third party insurance to generate bigger profits.

Director of Bennetts, Matthew Gledhill, said: “The figures from Bennetts prove that not all motorcycle insurance companies are putting up premiums year on year, simply to increase profits. Between January 2002 and December 2003 the average premium paid by a Bennetts customer for a new policy or a renewal has reduced by 11%.”

Lower premiums means that biking can become more accessible and affordable to those thinking about adding a motorcycle to the household.

As well as providing lower premiums for bikers, Bennetts also offers advice to help motorcyclists reduce their premiums even further. Tips include using security devices to help prevent theft, and bikers completing advanced riding courses. Both of these things can reduce premiums by up to 10%. Bennetts are urging bikers to log onto its website, www.bennetts.co.uk to find out more insurance hot tips.
