WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
09 January 2005 - British Speedway Promoters Association
WOLVERHAMPTON have completed their team for the new season with the surprise signing of Krzysztof Pecyna.
Pecyna, 26, has never raced in Britain before but he is an accomplished performer in his home country Poland and has beaten many top riders. He is contracted to Gdansk but a loan move to Torun is in the pipeline for his Polish League season - and now he is relishing the chance of lining up for Wolverhampton. Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''Krzysztof is an established performer in the Polish First Division, riding in the main body of the team. ''He has had lots of opportunities to come over to the UK in the past but he has never had the right set-up, something which has now been put right because he has a major sponsor in Poland who can put him on top class machinery. ''His enthusiasm is second to none and he comes to us from the same contacts who introduced us to Adam Skornicki. ''When he came over to meet me he brought some DVD recordings of him racing to show me and he regards this as a golden opportunity in his career. ''I appreciate that it''s fairly late in his career to be coming over to the UK, but he feels this is the right time with the right circumstances. ''I would also like to thank both Gdansk and Torun for their assistance in bringing him to Wolverhampton.'' *WOLVES fans will have their chance to fire questions at Van Straaten and team manager Peter Adams ahead of the new season at the club''s talk-in. The event takes place at Chillington WMC, Hickman Avenue, Wolverhampton on Monday March 7 and doors open at 7.45pm.
