LOVE IN THE FAST LANE
11 February 2004 - Bennetts

If your beloved owns a motorcycle you could be facing a very lonely Valentines Day.

A survey, conducted by one of the UK’s major players specialising in motorcycle insurance, Bennetts, has found out that a massive 50% of bikers choose to spend more time with their piece of metal than they would their other halve.

Bennetts is urging ‘biker partners’ to prepare themselves for a long and lonely wait for that special gift or dinner this Valentine.

The survey showed that motorcycles are being put before true love for 365 days of the year, not just on Valentines. Not only did the survey reveal that 50% of motorcyclists spend more time with their bike, it also showed that one third of motorcyclists spend up to £500 on their bike each year, when compared with only one fifth of bikers who said they would spend this amount of money on their other halves.

Even more shocking, the majority of bikers who responded to the online survey said they would rather spend time fine tuning or riding their pride and joy, or watching current WSB champion Neil Hodgson train for his debut in Moto GP. Less than half of those bikers who responded said that they would spend Valentines Day with their partner.

The most popular alternative to a day with the loved one was spending Valentines Day racing round their favourite track. This was the ideal way to spend the most romantic day of the year for 33 per cent of motorcyclists.
