WOLVERHAMPTON are believed to be days away from finalising their team for next season - after promoter Chris Van Straaten held positive talks with a mystery foreign rider.
Van Straaten has played host to the rider concerned and has shown him the Monmore Green circuit. He said: ''We had very positive talks and I believe something will happen in the next few days when I receive the paperwork.” STOKE asset Tony Atkin has invested in two new machines for next season – despite not having a team to ride for! Atkin is set to miss out on a place in the Potters line-up but he is keen to find a new club as he is desperate to race. He said: ''I have spoken to some clubs and would like to think that something will happen sooner rather than later.” SHEFFIELD have been handed a massive pre-season boost with the news that their club sponsorship deal has been renewed for a fourth successive season. Pirtek UK have once again pledged their support for the Owlerton outfit. Tigers boss Neil Machin said: “Pirtek have some great ideas and they are always keen to develop them, which is why our deal has proved so productive over the years.”
