NEWPORT promoter Tim Stone believes that Sunday''s New Year Classic will be a wide open event with a strong field assembled.
Stone said: ''I''m really looking forward to it, it should be a tremendous meeting for the fans and anyone can win it.'' LINE-UP: David Howe, Niels Iversen, Chris Harris, Mads Korneliussen, Brent Werner, Robbie Kessler, Chris Neath, Kristian Lund, Josh Larsen, Stuart Robson, Michael Coles, Neil Collins. EXETER have completed a powerful line-up for next season with the signing of Czech Republic international Toni Svab. Svab, 30, is returning to the County Ground a decade after starting his career with the Devon club. He said: ''Once I knew Exeter were interested, it did not take long to agree a deal, and I am now ready and looking forward to riding again at the County Ground.” KING’S Lynn boss Keith Chapman has revealed his surprise at Shaun Tacey’s move to Premier League rivals Workington. He said: “Shaun was 100 per cent in my team plans and he knew that, but I had to learn from other sources that he had left us. “I understand he was made a pay offer by Workington which exceeds anything I have previously seen in the Premier League.” STOKE’S German ace Robbie Kessler will use Newport’s New Year Classic meeting as vital preparation for next season. He said: “I’m still building the strength on the arm I broke in 2003 and the Newport meeting will help me towards that. “I want to do well there because I intend to start the 2005 season as I mean to go on and I’ve ordered new machinery.”
