LEIGH Adams is refusing to take anything for granted despite victory in the opening round of the Australian Championship.
The Swindon rider edged out new Wolverhampton signing Steve Johnston in the final to lead the series with three rounds to go. He told ClubCall: ''It''s a good start for me but there is still a long way to go so I''m not counting any chickens just yet.'' STEVE Johnston has described his move to Wolverhampton as a ''massive challenge''. The charismatic Australian spoke to Wolverhampton ClubCall immediately after claiming the runners-up spot in the opening round of the Australian Championship. He said: ''I''m probably going to have the responsibility of leading the team and that means trying to follow such a great rider in Sam Ermolenko which is going to be a massive challenge for me.'' TRAVIS McGowan has set his sights on a brand new bike - by riding high in the Australian Championships! The popular Oxford rider finished fourth in the opening round and the highest non Grand Prix rider after the four rounds gets the prize. He told ClubCall: ''There is that extra incentive and I''m pleased with my performance in the first round. I want to build on this now.'' JASON Lyons is relishing his return to Belle Vue under new owner Tony Mole. Lyons is stepping back up to the top flight after a spell with Premier League Neewcastle last season. He told ClubCall: ''I know Tony Mole and the new manager, Ian Thomas, from when they were at Workington as I rode there a couple of times last season and I''m more than happy to ride for them.''
