SPEEDWAY NEWS - 26.12.04
26 December 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

COVENTRY have completed their team plans for next season by signing Daniel Davidsson on loan from Poole. Joint Bees boss Colin Pratt said: ''He is a very talented rider, and I feel he can be a good signing for us.

''The late Sven Heiding first told me about the Davidsson brothers (younger brother Jonas rode for Oxford in 2004) and I have followed their progress ever since they were young teenagers.''

GLASGOW have snapped up James Birkinshaw in a loan deal from Premier League rivals Sheffield. Birkinshaw has invested heavily in new equipment and is training hard for the new season. Glasgow co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: ''James has always had a reputation of being only a big track rider which is what is needed in our side, but he has performed well here at Ashfield in the past.''

BARRIE Evans will ride for Stoke next season after a full transfer was agreed with Rye House. The deal for the former Hull and Newport man will go through in February when Rockets boss Len Silver returns to the UK to complete the paperwork. He said: ''This is a fresh start for me and I`m really pleased to be joining a club that is moving forward''.

NEWPORT boss Tim Stone is happy with track conditions at the Hayley Stadium ahead of their New Year Classic on January 2. The event, which always attracts a bumper crowd, is the only outdoor meeting of the winter in the UK. Stone said: ''We''ve been working tirelessly to get the track as good as it possibly can be, and for the time of the year the track stands up extremely well.''
