24 December 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

ANDREAS Jonsson has handed Coventry a massive boost by agreeing a new deal with the club. The Swedish Grand Prix star had originally told the club he was to sit out British racing in 2005 but he has had a change of heart.

Bees owner Avtar Sandhu said: “I told him we stood by him last year and we needed him back. He flew in from Sweden and signed his contract quickly.”

SWINDON are to announce another new signing for next season over the Christmas holidays. Robins boss Alun Rossiter said: “We are deep in negotiations with a rider who will bring a lot to the club. “We will be in a position to give our fans a Christmas present with some exciting news over the next few days and I feel confident we will have a strong team for next season.”

EXETER have swooped to sign two of the most exciting foreign prospects in the Premier League. Former Trelawny man Pavel Ondrasik is joined by Oxford asset Jernej Kolenko in a revamped Falcons team which also includes new signing Lee Smethills. Club director Mike Spearpoint said: “These are two exciting young riders who should quickly adapt to the County Ground track and will prove popular with the fans.”

WORKINGTON are close to securing a deal with a third new signing for next season. The Comets have already snapped up Scott Robson from Rye House and Kevin Little from Berwick as they rebuild their squad. Boss Graham Drury said: “I’m working hard to get as close to the 45-point limit as possible and the next signing is crucial to that strategy. We are determined to be successful.”
