IPSWICH and Coventry have failed to reach an agreement over the transfer fee for Scott Nicholls’ switch to Brandon.
The Witches are reportedly asking for £55,000 which is way over Coventry’s valuation for the Great Britain international. Coventry could recoup a chunk of the fee they eventually pay with the sale of Lee Richardson who has slapped in a transfer request with Swindon set to make an offer. WORKINGTON have completed the signing of Newcastle skipper Kevin Little as they continue to rebuild their squad. Little joins Scott Robson, James Wright, Kauko Nieminen and Carl Stonehewer in next season’s Derwent Park line-up. Comets boss Graham Drury said: “I’ve known Kevin for a long time and I feel sure he will improve his 5.76 average quite dramatically next season. He struggled last season but he had his reasons.” PREMIER League Riders’ Champion Andre Compton has agreed terms to stay with Sheffield next season. Compton, who won the title on his home track in September, is on the comeback trail after recovering from a wrist injury. Sheffield co-promoter Neil Machin said: “Andre knows he must do better away from home next season to justify his Premier League Riders’ Champion tag and we feel he can do that.” SOMERSET are to issue a statement which will have a big influence on the future of the club. The Rebels, who completed their team plans for next season with the signing of Lee Smart, are giving nothing away. Promoter Peter Toogood said: “I have been in negotiations with important people regarding the club. All I can add is that I feel it is positive news for everyone here.”
