SWINDON are expected to complete a new signing over the weekend. Robins chief Alun Rossiter has confirmed negotiations are at an advanced stage with a rider after the club were linked with Coventry''s Lee Richardson.
He said: ''We should be making an announcement soon and it won''t be Lee. The rider concerned has an important role to play in the team and the deal is almost done.'' WOLVERHAMPTON boss Chris Van Straaten has revealed how the club are likely to make a new foreign signing - after their own asset Chris Neath rejected a team place. Neath will stay in the Premier League for an eighth successive season despite the offer of an Elite League spot. Van Straaten said: ''We are disappointed by his decision and we will now look towards a foreign signing.'' EXETER have completed a double swoop with the signings of Seemond Stephens and Lee Smethills. Stephens is a firm favourite at the County Ground and Smethills returns after a successful previous spell with the club. He rode for Berwick and Newcastle this year. A delighted Smethills said: ''I''m really pleased that they want me back because I enjoyed myself when I was last with them in 2003.'' JAN Jaros has joined King''s Lynn on the recommendation of Stars skipper Tomas Topinka. Jaros, who had a miserable spell at Belle Vue last season, will start 2005 in one of the reserve positions. Topinka said: ''I have raced with Jan for a few seasons and he is very talented. He will also provide plenty of entertainment for our fans because his riding style can be very eccentric!''
