SPEEDWAY NEWS AND FIXTURES 16.12.04
16 December 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association
EASTBOURNE have announced that Dean Barker will return to Arlington in 2005 after spending last season on loan at Arena-Essex.
Barker did not enjoy the best of years at Purfleet, but Eagles co-promoter Jon Cook believes the rider will be able to raise his average again next year. Cook said: ''Dean will initially start as a second string, but I am sure he will soon be pressuring the heat-leaders.'' RICKY Ashworth will once again race in the Elite League next season after joining reigning Champions Poole on a doubling-up basis. Ashworth will combine racing for the Pirates with his Premier League commitments for Sheffield, having competed for Peterborough on a similar arrangement last season. Sheffield boss Neil Machin said: ''Ricky is an intelligent lad and I feel certain he will know how to handle his busy schedule.''
