WOLVERHAMPTON SPEEDWAY
14 December 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

MIKAEL Max will lead Wolverhampton''s assault on the Elite League championship after agreeing terms with club bosses.

Max, who celebrated his testimonial at Monmore Green last season, is one of the leading riders in the world despite losing his Grand Prix status. His victory over Hans Andersen in the play-off semi-final with Ipswich was one of the memorable moments of the 2004 season. Wolves chief Chris Van Straaten said: ''Mikael did a very good job for us last season and we are pleased to have him back. ''It was a hard decision to leave out his brother Peter, who has now joined Peterborough, but once we decided to go down the route of a more solid 1-7 then we knew both wouldn''t fit. ''Mikael is very down about losing his Grand Prix status but the only way he will get that back will be by performing consistently in both the British and Swedish Leagues and that will be good news for us.''
