SIMON Stead has joined Belle Vue after stepping into the Elite League from Workington.
The talented British youngster chose the Aces ahead of Wolverhampton who he had raced for on a part-time basis over the past two seasons. He said: ''The opportunity to ride alongside the world champion, Jason Crump, every week was a major factor in my decision. It was a very difficult choice to make.'' WOLVERHAMPTON have been boosted by the news that Fredrik Lindgren has decided to stay with the club. The Swedish youngster told fans at the end of last season that he couldn''t master the Monmore Green track and was likely to leave. Promoter Chris Van Straaten said: ''Both Peter Adams (team manager) and myself had a long chat with Freddie and he now feels this is best for his career.'' BRITISH Grand Prix star Scott Nicholls is on the verge of leaving Ipswich. with Coventry favourites to win the race for his signature. The Bees are looking to replace Andreas Jonsson who is staying in Sweden next year. Nicholls said: ''For once in my career I am being selfish, have put myself first. Ipswich have always been good to me, but this move is all about my future.'' ROBBIE Kessler is the third winter signing named by Premier League Stoke. The former Sheffield and Hull rider links up with Paul Clews and Jan Staechmann in the Potters side for next season. He said: ''I felt like I was somewhere near my best form towards the end of the season and nobody wants to see me continue that than myself! I need a clear run without injury.'' SOMERSET promoter Pete Toogood has revealed how he is in talks with a new top rider for next season. The Rebels boss wants to make his spearhead stronger in his second year at the Oak Tree Arena. He said: ''We''re almost there with a new signing who will go down well with the fans. Our team plans for an important season are now starting to gather some momentum.''
