TOSELAND VISIT BOOSTS BEN’S FUNDRAISING AT THE MOTORCYCLE & SCOOTER SHOW

World Superbike Champion, James Toseland took time out of his busy schedule to visit the BEN stand on press day of the recent Motorcycle and Scooter Show.
Fans flocked to catch a glimpse of the star as he promoted a raffle in aid of the charity. The prize, a limited edition Malaguti Firefox F15 (autographed by Toseland) was kindly donated to the charity by EP Barrus. The draw took place on the final day and Mr John Bartlett from Waterlooville, Hampshire was the lucky winner. Ticket sales throughout the show raised a staggering £2,541. During the show BEN engaged visitors and stand holders in various fundraising activities. A large number of the stand staff participated in the BEN Minimoto Challenge on Wednesday 10 November. Nine teams entered the endurance challenge. Vivaldi Racing emerged victorious with Silver Machine scooping 2nd prize and Kawasaki taking 3rd. The challenge raised an outstanding total of £760 ensuring that it will be a regular feature at the annual show. As well as the racing and star turnouts, the majority of the stand holders showed their support for the Fund by displaying a BENelephant collection box and asking visitors to the stand to make donation, which over the two week duration of the show raised an outstanding £6,413.39 This year’s show proved to be a huge success for BEN with total collections exceeding £9,000. BEN is the motor and allied trades benevolent fund. Founded in 1905 it provides practical help, support, advice and friendship to more than 15,000 men and women and their families in their own homes every year. The fund also provides a home to over 350 people, who live in one of the Funds four nursing and residential centres throughout the UK.
