SUPERMOTO SM WCH: 9TH ROUND RACE FINESTRAT, SPAIN (28.11.2004)
28 November 2004 - KTM-Sportmotorcycles AG

With best circumstances Fabrice Lecoanet goes to the first race. But at the first corner he was involved in a fight bar-to-bar which threwed him to the fourth position.

He fought like its his last battle but wasn’t able to get closer to the lead and so he finalized the heatrace on fourth position.

In the second heat it also turns black for the sympatic frenchman. Lying on sixth position he raced like a berserker, but unfortunately the KTM died in a corner and he has to restart it. When he got it back running the field was away. Far behind he ended on the 15. position.

With a flat fronttyre Lecoanets season was terminated prematurely. After he raced nearly the whole race at the fifth position he was very dissapointed about the technical problem. ''I had a really good feeling about the track, even it is very strange. The Offroadpart is heavy and difficult but I like it. The rest of the track is very slippery and you cannot pass other riders easily.'' he said after the Superfinal.

Van den Bosch underlines his strength with another Triple! Unbeatable Thierry van den Bosch presents himself at the first heat. Although Boris Chambon has taken the lead, VDB stays cool, pass him and win in a unbelievable manner. Chambon follows on the second position but were passed by Eddy Seel and in the last lap also by Gerald Delepine. Ivan Lazzarini had serious problems with the riders in front of him. Because of the narrow track he could’nt pass them and finish eigth.
With this victory Thierry van den Bosch fight back the Supermoto S1 World Champion title to KTM.

Same in heat two: Holeshot and the victory of the race for VDB. Even if he already has the title he won’t let others win one race and so he done this by himself. His teammate Chambon rode behind Manzo and he need long time to pass him. When he finite pass Manzo the two leaders VDB and Delepine were far away and he only could save the third place. Bad luck for Lazzarini, also in the second heat he stucks in the traffic and cannot ride like he normally could. Again position eigth for the italian.

To complete the winning series VDB doesn’t care Delepine, who was the leader of the Superfinal. After one lap VDB passed him, rode away and won again. The disaster for VDB’s teammates happens in the same lap: Boris Chambon got a flat tyre and Ivan Lazzarini had to stop because of technical problems.

''I’m very happy to reach the goal'' Thierry said, ''I knew that I can make it. For this reason I took the number 101 at the beginning of the year. Everything was perfect. The team, the bike, the tires - everything. I’m proud of everybody who done a job to be successfull.''
