POOLE co-promoter Matt Ford has assured Pirates fans that the club won’t get left behind in team building.

Several of their Elite League rivals have already announced signings but the Pirates are yet to make their move in the defence of the title. Ford said: “We are clear of the direction we wish to go in for 2005 and are busy trying to pull all the various contracts together.”

SHEFFIELD have completed the signing of Paul Cooper for his debut Premier League season. Cooper has been a regular in the club''s Conference League team for the past two years and now feels ready to make the step up. Tigers co-promoter Neil Machin said: ''I knew he was getting through his apprenticeship as a cabinet-maker and he was never going to move into speedway full-time prior to the completion of that.''
