MOTORCYCLE LICENCE AT THE MOTOR SHOW 2004
28 November 2004 - Bologna Motor Show
Promotor International, in association with the Infrastructure and Transport Ministry and through the work of the Emilia Romagna Regional Authority''s Observatory for Road Safety and Education, will run a course for the acquisition of motorcycle licences.
This initiative demonstrates the attention and sensitivity of the Bologna Exhibition to themes of mobility and safety. In addition to practical aspects such as test drives and safe driving courses on two wheeled vehicles aimed at younger visitors, at the 2004 Motor Show theory will also play a leading role. The course will be reserved for 30 under-18 students of one of Bologna''s schools, and will allow them to obtain motorcycle licences, once they have satisfied the course attendance requisite, of a total of 12 hours, subdivided into various lessons. The youngsters will be followed by three driving instructors, experts in the various teaching areas: behaviour on the road, road markings and driving, courtesy and obeying the law. The course, which will start on Monday 6th December, will also be honoured by a visit from Minister Pietro Lunardi, assisted by the Ministry''s driving instructors. The last step in the experience will consist in sitting and passing a thirty-minute theoretical test, based on a questionnaire on the subjects identified in the ministry''s program. The participants will also make use of the ''Drive'' video-test, created in association with Emilia-Romagna Regional Authority''s Observatory for Road Safety and Education. The motorcycle licence will be a talking point for some time to come: it is currently compulsory for minors driving 50cc motorcycles, but from 1st July 2005, it will also become compulsory for adults. On Thursday 9th December at 10.30 a.m. in the Sala Nettuno of the Centro Servizi Block D Centro Studi Promotor, in association with the Emila-Romagna Regional Authority''s Observatory for Road Education and Safety, will hold a conference entitled ''The motorcycle licence: will it come of age in 2005?'', dedicated to this very subject.
