WORLD PREMIERE OF BMW R1200 RT AT BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW
30 November 2004 - BMW Motorrad GB
The first official unveiling of BMW Motorrad’s definitive long distance touring machine, the R1200 RT, will be on Press Day – 2 December 2004 – at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy.
The show, which runs from 2-14 December, is held during the period when car and motorcycle manufacturers traditionally preview new models for the next year. At the same show, BMW Motorrad will also announce its new R1200 ST. This all-new model will replace the popular, award-winning R1150 RS. The two new machines will feature the innovative technology derived from the development of the new K1200 S superbike and especially the new generation Boxer-twin R1200 GS. In keeping with BMW Motorrad’s current philosophy, the new models will be lighter and more powerful than their predecessors. For example, the new R1200 RT outputs 110 bhp (81kW) and the dry weight is 229kg – 20kg lighter and 15bhp more powerful than the R1150 RT. The ST is even lighter, with a dry weight of just 205kg. The R1200 RT is launched to the world’s press early in the new year and will be on sale in the UK from 1 March 2005, with R1200 ST arriving at BMW Motorrad UK Dealerships on 12 March.
