HONDA TO LAUNCH THE NEW CB500 RANGE IN THE IRISH MARKET
29 January 2013 - Irish Motorbike Show
At the Carole Nash Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show RDS March 1st - 3rd
Honda announced today that they will introduce a series of new bikes at the Carole Nash Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show including the all new CB500X adventure bike and its naked sibling the CB500F. The show which boasts something for all the family including spectacular bike displays, extreme stunt riders, lifestyle fashion shows, live bike action and mayhem in the sand arena and much more, will be the first unveiling of the bikes in the Irish market.
Part of a trio of new bikes, which includes the fully faired sports bike the CBR500R, visitors to the show will get to see these two never before seen motor cycles months before they arrive on showroom floors.
The CB500X is a versatile bike which features an upright and relaxed adventure-style riding position making it an ideal commuter, weekend explorer or daily errand runner. A wide and upright handlebar, adjustable windscreen and with a larger-capacity fuel tank, compared to the CBR500R and CB500F, allows the fuel-efficient 470 cc parallel-twin engine to take you even farther between fill-ups for those lazy summer holiday escapades.
Eva O''Toole, Marketing Manager, Honda Distributors commented, “For many bike enthusiasts today, flexibility is a key motivation factor in choosing the right motorcycle. The 2013 CB500 series address this fundamental criteria in the market today by offering three riding styles in a single bike. Visitors to the Carole Nash Irish Motorbike and Scooter Show have a unique opportunity to see these exciting new entries to the adventure and street fighter bike sector of the market months in advance of the first bikes ever arriving to these shores.“
The Naked CB500F shares a number of common features with its siblings including the Brand New Liquid-cooled, DOHC, Four valve-per-cylinder, Counterbalanced 500cc Parallel-Twin engine, steel diamond frame and high quality suspension. What sets it apart is its “naked” styling. Stripped down to the essentials, with a stress-free seating position and a flat-type handlebar, the CB500F is designed as an ideal bike for the cut-and-thrust of urban riding without losing the ability to tackle the back road journey, compete on a track day or to facilitate a thrilling holiday adventure. The CB500F is a true middleweight contender with compact dimensions, punchy performance and nimble handling
Ruth Lemass, event organiser stated, “We are excited that we will have the first unveiling of these never before seen motorbikes at the show. The fact that they will not appear in Ireland again until later in the year is a great opportunity for visitors to the show to see them up close and in the flesh. We continually strive to provide not only exciting entertainment for all visitors but also to give enthusiasts a reason for coming. I think Honda''s launch easily achieves that goal.”
Both bikes are available in Pearl Himalayas White and Candy Ruby Red while the CB500x offers a Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic finish and the CB500F a Graphite Black option. Multiple accessories are available for the bikes as well and include sidecases, a 35-liter top box, heated grips, rear carrier, cover and a taller windscreen to name but a few. ABS brakes which are standard on the CB500X and optional on the CB500F provide superior stopping performance on all road surfaces – pavement, gravel, dirt, whatever you encounter.
Honda also announced that they are intending to bring the new CRF250L dual sports bike and the GL1800 Bagger to their stand at the show. These two new models have not been seen in any showrooms in Ireland either and offer additional incentives for the visitor to come along and see what is new from Honda in 2013.
