20 November 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

GLASGOW have ended speculation over the future of popular Czech Republic rider George Stancl by confirming his return for next season.

Stancl had been linked with a move away from Ashfield despite being a full Tigers asset. Co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: ''Not surprisingly there was interest from other tracks to tempt him away but in our talks we realised that George''s heart still lies at Glasgow.”

WORKINGTON have signed skipper Carl Stonehewer and Kauko Nieminen for the 2005 season. Both were key members of the Comets side which finished runners-up to Hull this year. Boss Graham Drury said: “We announced the signings at a fans forum and both went down very well. We also expect James Wright to be back with us although the contract isn’t yet signed where he is concerned.”
