SOMERSET boss Pete Toogood is the new chairman of British Speedway.

The former Swindon supremo was elected to succeed Chris Van Straaten on the opening day of the sport''s AGM on the Sunborn Yacht Hotel in London. Van Straaten has agreed to continue as vice-chairman with Poole''s Matt Ford and Isle of Wight''s Dave Pavitt elected as new members of management committee. Sheffield''s Neil Machin retains his place. A full statement on the BSPA AGM is expected to be issued from 8pm tonight (Thursday).

ANDREW Moore seems certain to leave Sheffield this winter after four years with the club. Moore wants a fresh challenge and he is expected to link up with Elite League Eastbourne after impressing in a brief spell last season. He said: ''Leaving Sheffield is nothing to do with the club or management. I just feel that last season I went a bit stale and I do need a change.''
