INTERNATIONAL MOTORCYCLE & SCOOTER SHOW 2004 FINISHES ON A HIGH Despite a slow start, a total of 166,194 visited the show over an eleven day period, 4th-14th November. ''The second half of the show really picked up and the final weekend was a nice way to round things off. The figure is slightly down on 2003 but the show attendance tends to reflect the market. More importantly for us, general exhibitor feedback has been very positive with a high number commenting on the quality of visitors'' said MCIE''s managing director Finlay McAllan. ''Fantastic show with a great atmosphere. The numbers may have been down but you could notice the difference in quality'' Kawasaki ''It''s been amazing. We''ve sold our entire stock for both NEC and Ally Pally'' Killer Covers ''Very Impressed. The show warmed up a little in the second week and we''ve taken thousands of enquires'' Datatag ''Despite slightly lower attendances we''ve had genuine quality customers'' Harley Davidson ''Successful overall with good levels of interest'' Ducati ''A successful show with all our new models being very well received especially the MT-01 and our range of 125''s'' Yamaha ''Quality over quantity - our leads are definitely up'' BMW ''Started slowly but a great final weekend, absolutely no complaints'' Honda ''Excellent show - less numbers, more spenders'' Bike Trader With over 300 stands, 56,500 square meters of space in seven halls and over 1000 motorcycles on display, this year''s show was the biggest yet. A range of have-a-go features, including mini-motos, outdoor KTM supermotos and Try a Scooter, it was also the most interactive ever. As well as thousands of visitors, the NEC also attracted a host of special guests including Olympic Gold Medallists Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell, girl-about-town and motorcycle convert Jodie Marsh, Rugby World Cup Winners Ben Cohen and Neil Back, Coronation Street star Jimmy Harshikin (Dev), BBC presenter Suzi Perry and a number of World Champion Racers. The two-wheeled stars of the show were all the new for 2005 models. Yamaha launched its new MT-01 Torque Sports Roadster and Valentino Rossi special edition R46. The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, Suzuki GSX-R1000, and Honda CBR600 were big eye catchers, whilst BMW presented its K1200S with actor Charley Boorman who recently circumnavigated the Globe on two wheels with best friend Ewan McGregor. Triumph''s much talked about Rocket III was named ''Machine of the Year'' by MCN.
