BMW 1000 RR SUPERBIKE WILL FEATURE AT GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED
28 June 2009 - BMW Motorrad GB
Troy Corser will be demonstrating his S 1000 RR race bike on both the Saturday and Sunday
The weekend of 3-5 July this year will see Goodwood House open its doors once again to the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed. BMW Motorrad will play an important part in the annual celebrations of Motorsport by presenting both the race and road versions of the exciting new S 1000 RR supersport bike. The race version of the motorcycle was unveiled at the Intermot international motorcycle Show in October 2008 and is being campaigned by Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus in this year’s World Superbike Championship. Troy Corser will be demonstrating his S 1000 RR race bike on the Saturday afternoon and on Sunday - riding from the official Start along the tree lined avenue, past the magnificent Goodwood House, before climbing the steep and narrow estate road to the top of the hill. The details of the second S1000 RR rider for Friday and Saturday morning have yet to be announced.
Visitors to Goodwood will have the chance to meet Troy Corser in the Paddock, and the BMW Motorrad motorcycle range will be on display at the Festival, including the S 1000 RR road bike. The motorcycle category of the Hillclimb caters for some of the world’s most famous competition bikes and riders, with the 2009 World Superbike entrants being particularly well featured this year. The Festival is an unrivalled social and sporting occasion in the motor racing calendar. The main attraction at the Festival of Speed is the Hillclimb held throughout the weekend on a 1.86-km course on parkland roads in the grounds of the famous House. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is far more than just a Hillclimb, however. It is a celebration of motor sport and is the only occasion where you will see the greatest historic and modern competition machines with their star drivers and riders in action, along with a chance to meet the legends of motor sport, past and present. Unique to this year’s event, is the 50th birthday of Britain’s most iconic car – the Mini. Lord March and Formula One Champion Damon Hill will be judging how many girls in 60’s style mini skirts can squeeze into the new Mini! The theme to this year’s festival is “True Grit – Epic Feats of Endurance”. It will celebrate the drive and determination of motor racing’s heroes, who overcame huge physical, mental and mechanical barriers in their quest for glory. Entry into the world’s biggest ‘must-see’ celebration of motor racing is by advance ticket only. For more information visit www.goodwood.co.uk, call + 44 1243 755055 or email bookings@goodwood.co.uk.
