13 November 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

GLASGOW have made their second signing for 2005 by agreeing a deal with youngster James Cockle to race for the Tigers on loan from Rye House.

Cockle impressed the Glasgow management during his appearances for the club in the latter part of the 2004 season. Glasgow co-promoter Stewart Dickson said: ''He is still young and has a lot to learn but the potential is definitely there.''

TWELVE of the sport''s referees will become riders for the day in a charity event for the Speedway Riders'' Benevolent Fund at Sittingbourne on Saturday. The day has been organised by circuit owner Graham Arnold after discussions with Essex-based referee Chris Gay. Grand Prix ref Tony Steele said: ''I think we''re all nervously looking forward to it. This is an event I will remember for the rest of my life.''
