BOS GTS SILENCERS FOR 2009 YAMAHA R1 BOS exhausts have developed a slip-on set of silencers, which fit directly on the original system on the new Yamaha R1, producing not only a beautiful sound but also liberating extra power and torque throughout the rev range. Based on the Dutch company’s popular GTS oval design and measuring just 340mm long, the silencers fit neatly into the bodywork of the tail section. An optional bracket is supplied so that owners can mount the licence plate directly under the silencers, although it is possible to retain the original fittings if preferred. Testing on the factory dynamometer shows an increase of approximately 5.5 Hp in peak power (@ 12090 rpm) and torque is boosted too, up by a maximum 8 Nm (at 3059 rpm). BOS R1 silencers are E-marked for road use and are fitted with the company’s acclaimed dB eater baffles that may be removed for track use when noise limits are not in place. BOS produce the silencer for the YZF-R1 in two options - ‘shotblast’ stainless steel (which has a similar appearance to titanium) at £699 or with a carbon fibre sleeve at £869 (for the pair). Both styles have a polished stainless end cap.
