YAMAHA WILL LAUNCH SEVERAL NEW MODELS IN DUBLIN
04 February 2009 - Irish Motorbike Show

Star of the show to be the new VMax

Yamaha Ireland will unveil a host of new 2009 motorbikes at The Carole Nash Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show, RDS Dublin, February 27th – March 1st, 2009.

Muscling in at the top of the list of new Yamaha launches is the powerful and stunning VMAX. The original roadster achieved cult status soon after it was launched in 1985 and it became a benchmark for other Manufacturers to follow. For the first time in Ireland visitors to the Carole Nash Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show will be able to see in the flesh this truly worthy and unique successor to the Iconic VMAX model.

Colin Martin, General Manager of Yamaha Ireland and Danfay Ltd, stated “Creating a replacement for such an iconic motorbike posed many challenges for Yamaha’s team of designers. Following nearly ten years of planning we believe we have succeeded in producing a truly modern work of art that embodies the ideals of the original bike while once again setting the standard for others to follow. With its all new engine and chassis, the high-tech VMAX is ready to capture the imagination of a whole new generation of motorbike enthusiasts and at the same time inspire the many thousands of loyal owners who made the original model such a huge worldwide success.”

The new model VMAX features an all-new 65-degree 1679cc V4 engine, a lightweight aluminium chassis, a 5-speed transmission with a slipper clutch, wave-style brake discs with ABS and Brembo master cylinders and complete suspension adjustability in both the front and rear. The external aesthetics of the bike from the inclusion of four massive air intakes to the stylish short up swept mufflers provide the onlooker with not only a sense of the beauty of this bike but also portrays the impression that there is a lot of raw power waiting to be unleashed.

Ruth Lemass, organiser of the Carole Nash Irish Motorbike & Scooter Show noted, “Yamaha will be launching several bikes at the show but there is no doubt that the VMAX will be a major draw. As production of the VMAX worldwide is limited to only 2,500 units in 2009, our visitors are in for a real treat when they see this bike. It isn''t even available to view in dealer showrooms.”

In addition to the Iconic VMAX, Yamaha will be launching the XVS950A, 2009 R1, XJ6 Diversion, to name but a few.
