TESTING CONTINUES ON THE 952 COMMANDO
13 November 2004 - Norton Motorsports inc.
Testing on the new 952 Commando continues to show positive results. The Norton testing team of Patrick Leyshock, Randell Henningsen, Brett Hoyt and Mark Baer have put endless miles on the new bike.
Whether it''s on the track, in the dyno room or on the road they''re committed to bringing the 952 to market with a clean bill of health. According to Director of Design & Development Paul Gaudio ''Our development process is moving along, we are planning to complete our engineering validation and accelerated durability testing of the power train in January, so that we can move into certification and begin to commercialize the bike for production. Given our current expectations, we are planning to begin production in September.'' He continued, ''Our latest tuning efforts have put out 88hp at the rear wheel in ''49'' state mode and 83hp in ''California'' mode. The biggest difference being a set of catalysts and a charcoal impregnated air filter (to capture evaporative emissions from the float bowls). Good news on both accounts. Hopefully we will be able to claim 90rwhp for the ''49 state'' bike!''
