KENNETH Bjerre has been unveiled as Belle Vue''s second signing for next season.

The former Newcastle man flew to Manchester from Denmark to sign his contract in front of a packed audience at a supporters meeting at Kirkmanshulme Lane. Aces boss Ian Thomas said: ''Kenneth is a very highly rated young rider and he''s looking forward to racing alongside the new world champion, Jason Crump, in our team. We''re delighted to have signed him.''

COVENTRY are closing in on the signing of Rory Schlein after the Australian told his parent club Edinburgh that he wants to join the Bees. The Brandon club tabled their offer after Schlein put in several impressive displays at Coventry during 2004. Bees joint-boss Colin Pratt said: ''Rory has notified Edinburgh he wants to join us, and negotiations are continuing. We hope to be able to announce something very soon.''

TOP speedway photographer Mike Patrick has won the runners-up prize in a worldwide FIM photo contest covering all forms of motorcycle racing. The successful shot was of Jason Crump racing in horrendous conditions in the Czech Grand Prix. Patrick said: ''I''m really pleased that a speedway picture has succeeded to win a prize but the winning entry, which showed a road racer''s bike engulfed in flames, was a worthy victor.''
