KBC HELMETS SUPPORT THE COAST WAY ROUND
25 June 2008 - KBC Racing

Charity ride by two firemen

KBC Helmets, one of the fasted growing helmet manufacturers in the world, are proud to be able to provide a different sort of fireman’s helmet, the FFR Flip-front (one more suited to motorcycling!), to two firemen planning to cover nearly 3000 miles on a charity ride by motorcycle around the coast of Great Britain.

The two fire fighters, Stuart Hopkin & Andy Creasey from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are planning to raise money for the Firefighter Charity by riding their motorcycles, two Aprilia Pegaso 660 Trails, around the mainland coast of the UK and also participating in Fire Station Charity Car Washes on every day of their 14 day trip.

Inspired by the tragic story of the families left behind after their Warwickshire colleagues tragically lost their lives last year, they now want to raise a substantial amount of funds and also raise awareness for the support that the Firefighter Charity gives to fire fighters and their families.

Planning to cover over 2,800 miles to stations as far apart as Thurso in Scotland and Barnstaple in Devon, Stuart and Andy will be spending an average of 6hrs a day on the bikes so say it was important that they had comfortable helmets, hence both of them choosing KBC’s latest FFR flip-front models, the ultimate multifunctional helmet and the most technically advanced offering from Californian based KBC.

With its patented MagCam System, the FFR’s chin bar can ‘slide, tuck and lock’ into place resulting in a lower profile when open. This enables ‘open face’ riding at higher speeds with no noticeable drag or lift, making the FFR truly a dual purpose open or full-face helmet and ideal for any role where face to face contact is important.

The Ride

Andy & Stuart, who are using their own holiday entitlement for the trip, will set off from Scarborough Fire Station at on Tuesday 1st July and ride south along coast roads to thirteen different fire stations in twelve different counties, finishing on Monday 14th July back at Scarborough. Setting off each day around 06:00hrs, they will arrive at each fire station between12:00hrs and 14:00hrs and take part in charity car washes that they have pre organized.
