TRACKER SETS THE STANDARD FOR VEHICLE SECURITY
12 November 2004 - Tracker Network (UK) Ltd
TRACKER, the UK’s leading stolen vehicle tracking and recovery system, continues to set the pace in the fight against vehicle crime with over 590,000 vehicles in the UK now fitted with a TRACKER device.
To date, TRACKER has been responsible for the recovery of over 12,400 stolen vehicles worth a total of over £239 million and has led to the arrest of 1,680 suspected thieves who were all picked up by police recovering vehicles fitted with a TRACKER system. Over 278,000 vehicles are stolen in the UK every year - that’s nearly one every two minutes - and of those, nearly half are never recovered, demonstrating that no matter how sophisticated a car or motorbike’s own security devices, there is no guarantee that a thief will not get past them. Indeed, vehicle manufacturers are fighting a constant battle to keep up with thieves’ increasingly refined methods. TRACKER offers that second level of security, providing theft-alert and stolen vehicle location and retrieval. Operated by all of the UK’s 52 police forces, TRACKER works like an electronic homing device. A covert transmitter is hidden in the vehicle which, when activated, sends a silent signal to TRACKER detector units fitted in police patrol cars and helicopters, leading them directly to the exact location of the stolen vehicle. TRACKER Monitor, TRACKER Horizon and TRACKER Echo will also alert a 24-hour Control Room as soon as there is any unauthorised movement of the vehicle, enabling TRACKER to inform you of a potential theft as quickly as possible. “TRACKER has helped reverse the trend in vehicle theft. If you have TRACKER fitted to your vehicle you can turn the tables on the thieves,” said Parita Patel, marketing communications manager at TRACKER. Fitting TRACKER could also mean that drivers actually save money on their insurance bills. Most insurance companies approve the system and offer discounts on premiums of up to 15% where it is fitted. The TRACKER system is approved by 36 vehicle manufacturers and is available in four versions. TRACKER Retrieve, which is activated when a vehicle is reported stolen by its owner and TRACKER Monitor, which will alert TRACKER HQ as soon as there is any unauthorised movement of the vehicle. The owner is then contacted to confirm the theft and the TRACKER unit quickly activated; both these systems operate via land based radio systems. TRACKER Horizon offers customers the extra reassurance of a dual technology system. GPS and proven land based radio transmission are combined to offer two means of identifying the vehicle location. For those who also require European tracking and would like electronic driver recognition, TRACKER Echo is the ideal product. All systems feature the Guard and Recover service, which provides a uniformed security guard anywhere in mainland Great Britain to protect a recovered stolen vehicle until it can be recovered to an agreed location. NB: TRACKER Retrieve and TRACKER Monitor are the only systems currently available from TRACKER that can be fitted to motorcycles.
