JAMES BUCKINGHAM DEMONSTRATES HIS COMMITMENT
28 April 2008 - Q8 Oils
Fourth in the Daily Star Cup
James Buckingham demonstrated his commitment and consistency on his Q8Oils lubricated Honda Fireblade at Thruxton, overcoming a weekend of frustrations to emerge fourth in the Daily Star Cup. Cold and wet qualifying conditions led to many upsets at the Hampshire circuit, leaving Buckingham, on the back row of the grid. This was frustrating for the North Devon rider, who was leading the Cup riders in qualifying at Brands Hatch in the previous round. In Race One James made a strong start and held off several challenges from Martin Jessopp on the Riders Racing Honda to finish 24th overall (out of 32 starters in the Superbike class) and fifth in the Daily Star Cup. Race two started under bright clear skies and James was making progress through the field when a major crash among the front runners led to the red flags coming out. After the race was re-started James maintained his form, coming in 20th overall and fifth in the Cup. This puts Buckingham fourth in the Daily Star Cup, with a solid foundation on which to build at the next Round at Oulton Park in Cheshire. The lubricants used by Quay Garage Racing are blended in Q8Oils'' purpose-built plant in Leeds, just like the Q8Oils range of MOTO SBK oils that are available to road riders. The next round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship takes place at Oulton Park on 3/4/5 May.
