NEW ROLL-UP BACK PROTECTION
04 March 2008 - Planet Knox Ltd

Light and compact design is extremely comfortable to wear

Planet-Knox, the British protection specialists, have launched the third generation of their innovative roll-up back protector, the Kompakt.

As its name suggests, the Kompakt compresses a significant amount of protection into a highly portable package. The design team at Knox carefully styled the Kompakt so that it would sit comfortably beneath armoured motorcycle clothing while still covering all of the vulnerable areas of the back required under European safety standards.

At under 600g it is exceptionally light (less than half the weight of most racing style crash helmets), yet the Kompakt comfortably exceeds the current CE standard for back-protectors (1621-2, Level 1). Its naturally strong hexagonal honeycomb interior absorbs massive amounts of energy from and impact in a similar way to the crumple zone on a car.

This light and compact design makes for an extremely comfortable product and this aspect is enhanced by the broad Velcro waistband with Increased Posture Support (IPS) and cross-over Z-fastener shoulder strap system. There is even an option to fit a Knox CE-approved chest protector (£24.99).

It is designed for road riders who value comfort and practicality; the Kompakt rolls up and can be stored in a carry bag that measures just 33cm long by 15cm diameter. Available in sizes Small & Large, the new Knox Kompakt Back Protector sells for £59.99 including VAT and carry bag.
