DERBI TERRA 125CC
10 January 2008 - Derbi

One of the most sophisticated bikes in its class.

The new Derbi Terra 125cc is the latest small capacity motorcycle to join the impressive Derbi sporty motorcycle portfolio. Using the experience and success of the Derbi Senda range, the Derbi Terra is poised to be the ultimate trail and adventure bike of 2008.

One of the most sophisticated bikes in its class, the design of the Derbi Terra is similar to the bikes used by Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor in the BBC documentary, The Long Way Down. It is well adapted to concrete surfaces as well as being well-equipped to rip up the countryside’s dirt tracks due to its large tyres, great riding position and strong brakes.

The all new 125cc 4-stroke engine of this eye-catching bike is the most powerful in its class as it develops 15bhp @ 9250rpm. Linked to the six speed gear box, the engine of the Derbi Terra feels lively and delivers a steady power band all the way through the rev range which provides a smoother ride. Furthermore, the team at Derbi have created a compact, light, economic and environmentally friendly Euro 3 certified engine that offers the best performance while also preserving low fuel consumption.

The braking system has been developed in-house with the utmost care by the specialists at Derbi and is composed of a front Ø280mm disk and rear Ø220mm disk which brings the bike to a rapid halt and with plenty of feel. To also highlight its urban spirit, the new Derbi Terra has an18 inch front tyre and 17 inch rear tyre that makes it the ideal choice for both city driving and for medium distance trips, whilst still maintaining its own off-road capabilities.

The chassis of this sporty-looking trail uses a double steel beam which offers the essential rigidity required to minimise torsion, yet also delivers the perfect balance to achieve the highest levels of performance. The front suspension is a 37mm diameter conventional fork which provides an ideal response on all terrains. The rear suspension of the bike has a mono shock with pre-load regulation that improves the comfort and efficiency of the bike - ideal for any riding style and varying driving conditions.

The front end design, with a double fender, follows the trend of larger displacement bikes, whilst its wide foam seat offers the best comfort both for rider and pillion. In addition, the Derbi Terra has capacity for carrying extra bags, thanks to the luggage rack platform on the rear of the bike which can also be used as a grab rail by the pillion.

The Derbi Terra 125cc is designed to rule both the road and the dirt. Its light weight (117kg) makes it great for first time riders as it is easy to manoeuvre but it will also appeal to the more experienced motorcyclists who are looking for a solid and secure bike for everyday use and appreciate the ‘big bike’ look. The riding position is also ideal for experienced and novice riders alike on account of its wide handle bars and a low seat (also ideal for female riders) which makes this light motorbike exceptionally easy to control, especially at low speeds.

The Derbi Terra 125cc is available in two colours; Red and Aqua Silver and is priced at £2,699 (on the road) which includes a two year warranty and one year roadside assistance.

European legislation changes take effect in October 2008 which will make it more expensive and difficult to get the full bike licence needed to ride scooters and motorcycles over a 125cc engine displacement, so Now''s The Time to take your test so you can enjoy the benefits of two wheels.

For driving license holders, you will need to complete a one-day Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) in order to ride the Derbi Terra 125cc.
