SPEEDWAY NEWS 5.11.04
05 November 2004 - British Speedway Promoters Association

EASTBOURNE have made their first 2005 signing with hugely popular skipper David Norris agreeing to another year at Arlington.

Despite finishing the year on the injured list, Norris enjoyed easily his best season in the sport and was an automatic choice to return. Eagles co-promoter Jon Cook said: ''I have no doubt that David can still improve further next season and lead the Eagles on to great things.''

BRITISH Under-21 Champion Ritchie Hawkins is hoping to link up with an Elite League club in 2005 after a spectacular return to the sport this year. Hawkins was successful at both individual and team levels in 2004, competing for Berwick and Mildenhall in Premier and Conference Leagues. Hawkins said: ''I''m sure I can get a permanent slot in the Premier League and then hopefully the chance to double up will follow.''
