JAMES TOSELAND LEADS PARADE OF AWARD WINNERS
28 December 2007 - Guild of Motoring Writers
World Superbike Champion James Toseland lit up the Guild of Motoring Writers'' Christmas Dinner and Awards when he turned up to collect his Rider of the Year trophy.
Toseland was among a host of winners who turned out at the RAC Club in London earlier this month. Although Driver of the Year Lewis Hamilton could not make it, he did send a letter saying how delighted he was with his award. The evening saw a large number of members go home with cheques, trophies and recognition of their efforts from their peers, while aspiring motoring journalist George Barrow collected the Sir William Lyons Award, presented by Jaguar. He joins an elite group of Lyons winners who have gone on to make their name as writers or in automotive industry PR. Retiring Honorary Secretary Graham Macbeth was also surprised to receive the Pemberton Trophy. However, having dedicated countless hours over 45 years to furthering the cause of the Guild, his outstanding contribution deserved the highest recognition.
