BIGGER AND BETTER MP3
20 December 2007 - Piaggio
The PIAGGIO MP3, which has revolutionised personal transport by redefining the entire concept of ride stability, has grown to a 400cc displacement to offer unprecedented performance and safety.
Having sold over 15,000 MP3 scooters across Europe (125cc and 250cc) since January 2007, this nifty three-wheeler has proven that it is here to stay. The Piaggio MP3 has increased its engine capacity to offer an even zippier performance. The new Master 400cc engine a four stroke, four valve unit with liquid cooling and electronic injection provides a 34 hp power output at 7,500 rpm and torque of 38 Nm at 5,500 rpm. These performance figures translate into a smooth, high power output at any speed. Response and acceleration are also at the top of the category and in line with Euro 3 regulations. Extra power and full-bodied torque become available at low engine rpm and are crucial when overtaking as they allow the rider to pull away quickly and safely. As well as offering reduced fuel consumption compared to larger capacity scooters, the PIAGGIO MP3 400cc also handles corners with extraordinary safety and demonstrates manoeuvrability that only this three-wheeler can manage. Suitable for all terrains, the PIAGGIO MP3 proves itself as a long-distance scooter on account of its large underseat storage bay (which holds two full-face helmets), the wraparound protection of the wide front shield and excellent cruising speed. Further substantial advantages of the PIAGGIO MP3 400cc include an increased wheelbase by 65mm compared to the 250cc version. The Piaggio MP3 400cc offers unwavering stability when leaning into fast curves or when braking thanks to its longer rear end, increased rear wheel surface contact and outstanding road grip provided by the innovative parallelogram front suspension built to an original Piaggio design. Its tilt mechanism is composed of four cast aluminium arms, with four hinges fixed to the central tube and two guide tubes on either side of the parallelogram, connected to the arms via suspension pins and ball bearings. All aspects of the frame, including its structural strength and weight were defined and thoroughly tested at the very beginning of the project, and the validity of the solutions adopted were verified at every stage of the process. You can also complete the look by choosing items from the PIAGGIO MP3s accessories range: Leg cover with integrated heating plus built-in heating element powered from a special battery Clear, large screen which can extend beyond normal helmet position and features built-in hand guards TOM TOM Rider satnav adapter kit 48 litre top box with tilting support for easy access to the MP3-s rear storage compartment Electronic alarm and scooter cover Passenger backrest and stylish windscreen (classic medium size) Comfortable and innovative with exceptional performance, the Piaggio MP3 400cc will seduce novice riders as well as seasoned motorcyclists, as it combines enjoyment and ease of use with unprecedented safety. The 400cc PIAGGIO MP3 is priced at £4,999 (inclusive of two years warranty, one years roadside as standard), and it is available in a choice of two colour variations either Blu Midnight (Midnight Blue) or Grigio Excalibur (Excalibur Silver). All Piaggio scooters come with a two year warranty, while models over 50cc come with one-year free roadside recovery and an electronic immobiliser as standard as well (excludes Fly 125cc, Carnaby 125cc, Zip 100cc and PX 125cc). European legislation changes take effect in October 2008 which will make it more expensive and difficult to get your full bike licence needed to ride scooters over a 125cc engine displacement, so Now''s The Time to take your test to enjoy the benefits of two or three wheels.
