30 November 2007 - Piaggio
Piaggio XEvo is the latest stunning addition to Piaggio’s prestigious maxi scooter range. No longer must you compromise between comfort, style and space thanks to the launch of this impressive new scooter.
The new Piaggio XEvo epitomises stylish Italian design for which the country is renowned. Providing the perfect balance between elegance, dynamic quality and functionality, the Piaggio XEvo’s aerodynamic style is enhanced by its chrome plated finishes, twin headlights and rear view mirrors painted in a matching finish. Considerable attention to detail has been taken in the design of the bike and the very best materials have been used to produce this “Business Class” maxi scooter. The instrumentation includes not only the standard speedometer and rev counter, but also has a complete series of warning lights and function indicators with a ‘trip computer’ that lets you keep every function on the Piaggio XEvo under constant control. Other special features include grab handles with a high grip central insert for extra safety, which also extends rearwards to form a comfortable backrest. The new Piaggio XEvo offers manageability along with performance making it the ideal mode of transport for city riding as well as long distance journeys in the country. Comfort and practicality are paramount for both you and your pillion passenger - with the XEvo offering ample seating, which includes a comfortable built-in padded backrest. Storage is also well catered for with capacity for two full-face helmets and large objects (up to 80cm in length) thanks to the XEvo’s impressive 56-litre under-seat compartment. Additionally, when travelling solo you can take advantage of the extra space in the under-seat compartment for your gym kit, shopping bag or work files. Using the latest CAD technology, the Piaggio XEvo is unrivalled when it comes to chassis specifications. The steel tube frame has excellent specifications for weight and structural strength and the front suspension is provided by a 35mm fork while rear suspension is entrusted to two double acting hydraulic shock absorbers with a 4-position spring preload adjustment. Extra braking power is provided by the 240mm disc at the rear, while the 125cc model features a single 260mm front disc, compared to two 240mm front discs on the 400cc version. Both models are equipped with a 14” front wheel, which allows greater stability and increased hold on the road. On the 125cc, the rear wheel is 12” with a generous 130/70 tyre and this grows to a 14” wheel with 140/70 tyre for the 400cc engine which matches the extra power of this engine. The Piaggio XEvo 125cc is fitted with a 4 valve engine that puts out 14.9 HP/11 kW, the legal maximum for riders until they have passed their motorcycle test. The Piaggio XEvo 400cc features a liquid cooled, 4-stroke, 4-valve engine, with electronic fuel injection, delivering 32 HP/25 kW but still achieving amazing fuel economy (more than 37 Km/l at 60 kph). Both the 125cc and 400cc engine displacements deliver standard-setting power in their different classes, and conform to the strict Euro 3 emission standards. The Piaggio XEvo 125cc is priced at £2,949 and the Piaggio XEvo 400cc is priced at £3,999 on the road. Both the 125cc and 400cc are available in a choice of two colour variations either Midnight Blue or Sirio Grey. The Piaggio XEvo is available with the following accessories – large windshield complete with hand-guards, top box kit (46 litre top box capable of holding 2 full-face helmets), leg and scooter cover, E-Power electronic alarm and anti-theft chain. All Piaggio scooters come with a two-year warranty, while models over 50cc come with one-year free roadside recovery and an electronic immobiliser as standard (excludes Fly 125cc, Carnaby 125cc, Zip 100cc, Vespa S 125cc and PX 125cc). European legislation changes take effect in October 2008 which will make it more expensive and difficult to get your full bike licence needed to ride scooters over a 125cc engine displacement, so Now''s The Time to take your test to enjoy the benefits of two or three wheels.
