NIGHT ROD SPECIAL HARLEY UP FOR GRABS
19 November 2007 - NSPCC
Fuel Tank signed by Carl Fogarty
One lucky diner at the major fundraising event for the NSPCC, the City Dinner, will be riding into the night on a customised Night Rod Special Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The unique bike will be autographed by Carl Fogarty, four-time World Super Bike champion. The lot will also include a set of Harley-Davidson leathers and helmet, as well as a ‘back to biking’ tuition package at Harley’s Riders Edge training facility. Donated by Equity Insurance Group, the bike will be auctioned to raise money to improve the lives of vulnerable children at the City Dinner, the NSPCC’s largest annual fundraising event, which takes place on Wednesday 5th December at The Dorchester Hotel. But Harley fans don’t have to attend the dinner to make a bid for this ‘money can’t buy’ lot. Details can be found on the City Dinner website – www.citydinner.co.uk – where reserve bids can be placed. A glittering, star studded occasion, with more than 400 guests, the City Dinner raises money for the charity through both a silent and live auction. The star of this year’s Dinner is the Harley-Davidson Night Rod Special, including accessories and a rider training package. Championship motorcycle racer, Carl Fogarty, will be attending the dinner to hand over the keys to the highest bidder, making it a dream come true for any budding easy rider. Now in its 12th year, nearly £3 million has been raised to date by the NSPCC City Dinner, including £617,000 at last year’s event alone. This year the target is to raise £750,000 for the charity through sponsorship, ticket sales and fundraising – including an auction - on the evening. NSPCC fundraiser Diane Weatherup said: “Last year’s City Dinner raised £617,000, providing vital funds for the NSPCC Child Protection Helpline, which receives more than 120,000 calls annually. “We hope to set a new standard at this year’s event. Tickets are selling faster than a Night Rod Special Harley-Davidson! So we urge people to book quickly to ensure a place and to bid generously to help us reach our £750,000 target and make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children.”
