11 October 2007 - MCI Exhibitions Ltd
Both will be attending the Birmingham NEC Show on a number of dates to meet fans and sign autographs.
Among the many famous faces set to attend the re-launched 2007 International Motorcycle and Scooter Show will be this year’s two newly-announced Show ambassadors – world-famous biking adventurer Charley Boorman and British racing legend Chris Walker. Both will be attending the Birmingham NEC Show on a number of dates to meet fans and sign autographs, and will be acting as ambassadors for the Show which runs from the 23rd November to 2nd December. The announcement of two of the most recognisable faces in British biking supporting the Show, is another strong endorsement for the UK’s biggest two-wheeled show. Boorman, who is a regular visitor to the NEC Bike Show, has just returned from his most recent adventure with best mate Ewan McGregor - ‘Long Way Down’ - in which the pair travelled from the north of Scotland to the southern tip of Africa on two wheels. Charley will be at this year’s Show to promote the forthcoming BBC1 TV series the Long Way Down and signing copies of the soon-to-be-released book and DVD. Charley will be found on the BMW stand (1E30 in Hall 1) on 23rd and 24th November where visitors will also find his trusty BMW R1200 GS Adventure bike on show. British racing hero and Show regular, Chris Walker, will also be present at the NEC this year, meeting fans and signing copies of his brand new autobiography, Stalker!, on the Harper Collins stand (1B92 in Hall 1) on 24th and 25th November. Walker, who currently rides in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship has had an impressive and prestigious career so far, including having been four-times BSB runner-up and having also ridden in the MotoGP and World Superbike Championships. He is undoubtedly one of the biggest names in British motorcycle racing and a firm favourite at the NEC Show. Charley Boorman and Chris Walker will be joined at the NEC by the most dazzling display of new bikes ever seen together under one roof in the UK. With many of the leading names in motorcycling set to unveil their 2008 models for the first time in the UK at the Show, visitors will be spoilt for choice and demand for tickets is likely to be very high. Among the leading manufacturers in attendance this year are Benelli, BMW, Buell, CCM, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Hyosung, Kawasaki, KTM, PGO Scooters, Suzuki, Triumph, Vectrix, Victory Motorcycles, Watsonian Squire, Wuyang and Yamaha. Charley Boorman commented: “The NEC Show is always fantastic to visit with an amazing array of things to see and do. For me, the highlight of my visit is always seeing the new bikes on show. This year is going to be even more exciting, with the Show being in a brand new location within the NEC and the best ever line-up of bikes. Having been away for so long on the road, it will be great to be back on familiar territory at the NEC – everyone is always so friendly and it is a highlight of my calendar.” Chris Walker commented: “The NEC Bike Show is a brilliant event and a great chance for bikers young and old to come together and enjoy a fantastic day out. I am really looking forward to meeting fans and having a go on some of the interactive features including the Mini-moto track. With my autobiography about to be launched in the UK, the Show is the perfect opportunity to give something back to my fans.” Finlay McAllan, Managing Director of MCI Exhibitions, commented on today’s announcement: “We are delighted to announce two of the biking world’s favourite faces to be fronting this year’s much anticipated Show. It’s important to have credible ambassadors fronting the Show and with both Charley and Chris being long-time fans of the Show we couldn’t ask for two better people!” This year’s Show take place on the new dates of 23rd November – 2nd December (Press Day – 22nd November), in new halls 1, 2, 3, 3a & 4. Ticket prices have been frozen for a third consecutive year.
