OXFORD promoter Nigel Wagstaff says that a significant reduction in rent is required if he is to continue running at Cowley in 2005.
The Silver Machine have lost their Friday race-night for next season, despite an appeal from the supporters'' club which was backed by the local MP. Wagstaff said: ''Perhaps something can be worked out, but it''s going to take a number of issues to fall into place.'' BERWICK promoter Peter Waite has expressed his gratitude after a positive response to his appeal for financial assistance at the club. Waite said: ''We have learnt a hard lesson in 2004 and understand that we must restructure the club in order for it to flourish. ''Now is the time to really make the big push and get Berwick to the top. I still want to win the League more than anything.'' --- *BREAKING NEWS THROUGHOUT THE DAY AVAILABLE FROM: OFFICIAL BRITISH SPEEDWAY CLUBCALL NEWSLINE 09066 555 909 (calls cost 60p/min)
